Outreach Workshops

                               "Cuddle Quilts"

We have a "Cuddle Quilt Count Off" each month to display the many, many quilts that our members have made for the benefit of the Charlotte region.  See photos of more quilts!

Cuddle Quilt Workshops are held every month on the third Monday
Quilt Patch Fabrics 1017 Stallings Road, Matthews, NC

Many thanks to Quilt Patch Fabrics!

Cuddle Quilts are given to Carolinas Medical Center for infants and children.
Larger "Comfort Quilts" are donated to CMC and distributed to female cancer patients.

"Fidget Quilts"
This is a new project started in 2013.  "Fidget Quilts" are small tactile lap quilts, approximately 20" square, made for Memory Care Residents at The Haven.  These will be given to The Haven at Carolina Village in Pineville, NC for their residents, in appreciation of The Haven donating to us the free use of their Community Room for our CQG workshops.

Please download this "Fidget Quilt Info Sheet" for more information on how to contribute to this project.  See more photos of Fidget Quilts.
It makes great use of your leftover scraps from quilt projects and your stash of laces, trims, buttons, zippers, etc.  Please make and donate several of these each year as they are so quick to make!

"Quilts for Soldiers"

These workshops are held several times each year.  Completed patriotic quilts are distributed to wounded veterans by the USO at the Charlotte Douglas Airport.  Watch our newsletter for announcements of dates for these workshops.

Member Requirements

Each member is asked to contribute annually to Outreach.
Members can provide two (2) cuddle quilts, 1 Quilt of Soldiers, or 1 Adult Comfort Quilt.

There are also opportunities to participate in (or lead) workshops, assist during Guild meeting, and deliver quilts.  Sign up sheets are available to help with coordination.

Materials & Labels

Kits for making quilts are available at most Guild meetings at no charge. Feel free to add fabric of your choice or modify any design. Kits can be just a starting place! You can use panels, your own fabrics, your own patterns, tied or quilted -
the choices are many!!!

We have lovely printed labels with CQG written on  them for our Outreach quilts. These should be sewn on and you may add your signature with appropriate pen if you wish. Ask anyone on the Outreach Committee for a supply of these labels.

Don’t forget!

Please wash, check for pins, and sew our Guild labels on before donating quilts.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
